Prague Quadrienal is an organization aims to explore and present
contemporary scenography - including stage, costume, lighting, sound,
and other elements of performance design.
The
Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space, scenographic
event held in Prague every four years since 1967
I choose this topic because: In
my opinion this is a very important event for theatrical designers,
and very interesting too because designers can participate on these
in many ways: we can create and do projects in groups to present them
there, and at the same time we can see the projects from other
groups. Also, we can share different points of view about our
occupation and discuss about it with other people from this area.
This
international exhibition is the world's largest event of scenography
and theatre architecture. The main PQ event includes international
meetings, workshops, databases, publications, exhibitions, and online
projects, and supports the exploration of practical, theoretical, and
curatorial aspects of contemporary performance design in between
individual editions of the international exhibition.
The
most recent Prague Quadrennial in 2011 attracted more than 40,000
visitors, including countless artists, directors, scenographers, and
designers from more than 70 countries around the world.
The
upcoming 13th edition of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design
and Space will be held in June 2015.
Finally,
is necessary to add that our program (from the Universidad de Chile)
has participated in PQ whit four projects, and we are invite to take
part on the next event which will be realized in two more years. I
think it will be a very important opportunity to show what we have
learned here and put in practice all the theoretical knowledge we
have got along these years. And in the other hand I think it is an
excellent occasion to know new places in another country and to see
other references to understand own processes.
It a time for growing up as designers... and also for travel! and know, visit and enjoy other places
